Nominated Hotel Charity - Swap Tears for Smiles

Swap Tears for Smiles is a refuge which provides safety and support for vulnerable women and children affected by domestic violence. The charity is run by a team of staff who provide 24 hour support, helping women to develop their confidence and skills. Since opening in 1995, Swap Tears for Smiles have helped over two and a half thousand vulnerable women across the UK.   

The hotel has supported the charity by means of donations, giving Easter gifts for the children and Christmas presents for the mothers. Some of the children at the refuge also designed the hotel's Christmas cards in 2012 and these were then sent out to local companies. The team also sold the Christmas cards at reception with all proceeds going directly to the charity.

Second Nominated Charity - Eve Appeal

The Eve Appeal was formed in 2005 to raise awareness and funding for research into gynaecological cancers as part of a research programme at the Department of Women's Cancer based at University College London (UCL).

Here at the hotel, the team are holding monthly cake bakes which are going down very well with the guests as well as selling pin badges at reception. The team are also currently planning a dinner event for 2013 in support of the charity. Keep up-to-date with details here!
